Patent Awarded to AiNET for Data Center Critical Power Protection Solution
AiNET has been awarded a U.S. Patent for its solution to a class of undetectable, high-risk conditions that can cause power outages in every data center, hospital or other critical power installation in the world. Called the AiNET Critical Power Protection Supervisor (CPPS), this technology is now available for deployment worldwide under resale or licensing arrangements.
Beltsville, MD – October 19, 2011 – AiNET, a leader in design, construction, operation, and technology solutions for Internet data centers and fiber optic networks supporting critical applications, today announced that it has been awarded U.S. Patent 7,962,772. The patent recognizes AiNET’s solution to a class of problems that reduce power availability in all existing data centers, hospitals and other critical facilities that depend on critical power. More than a dozen international patents are pending. AiNET’s announcement comes following a period of high-profile power outages in otherwise state-of-the-art data centers around the world.
Facilities dependent upon critical power are typically equipped with generators, automatic transfer switches, uninterruptible power systems (UPS), and extensive battery backup or similar systems. On the whole, this configuration of critical power elements works well to ensure basic critical power availability, but certain conditions create vulnerabilities in the protection scheme due to a lack of proper integration. The AiNET solution, the Critical Power Protection Supervisor, has advanced beyond this set of independent critical power components, by unifying them into an automated, intelligent critical power system that addresses the gaps.
As a way of enhancing the most meticulously-designed and implemented power delivery configuration, i.e. TIA-942 Tier IV data centers, an AiNET team developed the solution after an extensive search for anything comparable.
In discussing operational measures to respond to the subtle failure-causing conditions that slip under the normal design and detection measures, Deepak Jain, President of AiNET, said, “Relying on a person to notice the problem and intervene isn’t a predictable or scalable approach.
